Roosevelt Elk Crystal Sphere

Anyone who's driven Highway 101 through Brinnon knows the feeling — you come around a bend near the Dosewallips and there they are, standing in the field like they've been waiting for you. Thirty of them. Steam off their backs in the morning. Traffic stops and nobody minds.

This is that, held still. A bull elk engraved in three dimensions inside a solid crystal sphere — antlers, the heavy winter coat across his shoulders, the way he holds his head when he's decided you aren't a problem. The image sits suspended in the middle of the glass. Turn the sphere and he turns with it, because he has actual depth, not a picture printed on a curve.

On its wood base, a warm LED lights the sphere from below and the whole thing glows amber in a dark room. It reads as lamplight rather than gadget light. Off, in daylight, it's a clear glass ball with a ghost of an elk inside that catches sun from the window.
